More than a simple collection of toy pictures, the album transformed Mattel’s products into large illustrated adventures. Figures, vehicles and accessories familiar from the catalogues became part of Westerns, expeditions and action stories, with the stickers completing the artwork itself. It is a fascinating bridge between toy catalogue, comic book and collectible album — allowing children not only to own Big Jim’s adventures, but literally to assemble them sticker by sticker.
