Une aventure de Big Jim is a French illustrated album published in 1977 by Éditions Touret, under license from Mattel Inc. Presented as a large-format hardcover book measuring approximately 30.5 × 23.5 cm and containing 29 pages, it is credited to Tom Reed and features large full-colour illustrations typical of children’s publications from the 1970s. The story follows Big Jim on an outdoor adventure, with mountain landscapes, wildlife, off-road vehicles, and situations inspired by the exploration theme associated with the character. The book was published in French for the French market, while its graphic production and printing appear to have been carried out in Italy. It is an interesting piece of Big Jim merchandising because, unlike the action figures and accessories, it brings Mattel’s universe directly into print and illustrates how the Big Jim licence expanded into publishing in France during the late 1970s.
