Rather than simply showing the toys, the page turns the playset into a complete story: Big Jim and Big Jack capture the gorilla before treating its injuries and delivering it safely to a national park. The final panel then directly invites children to recreate similar adventures with the Big Jim toys.

Published in Spain in 1975 by Luis Congost, S.A., Aventura en la Jungla is a comic-style advertisement built around Big Jim’s Jungle Adventure set.

L’Escalade périlleuse

Published in Pif Gadget (France), issue no. 455, dated 28 November 1977, L’Escalade périlleuse was a two-page Mattel advertising comic featuring Big Jim.

The title is split across the two pages — “L’Escalade” on the first and “Périlleuse” on the second — giving the advertisement the feel of a genuine short adventure rather than a conventional toy ad.

It was one of several Big Jim promotional comics published in Pif Gadget during 1977, alongside stories such as Le monstre du Loch Ness and Opération Grand Nord.

Big Jim à la pêche au tréso

Published in Le Journal de Mickey no. 1220 on 2 November 1975, this French Mattel advertising comic turns Big Jim’s diving equipment, camper and adventure accessories into a complete treasure-hunting story.

Rather than simply displaying the toys, Mattel placed Big Jim, Big Jack, Big Josh and Big Jeff inside a miniature adventure: a dive for a treasure chest, a giant shell trapping Big Jim, and a rescue by Big Jack using Big Jeff’s machete. It was part of a series of comic-style advertisements that made the toys themselves the props of Big Jim’s adventures.
