9940 Torpedo Fist

Big Jim Torpedo Fist, Mattel reference 9940, is the Grip Hands version of the distinctive P.A.C.K. operative. Collector databases date this reference to 1977–1978: the Big Jim Forum lists it in 1977, while Figure Realm records a 1978 release. Torpedo Fist stands apart in the vintage Big Jim line through his mechanical right arm and torpedo-fist action, giving the character an unusual cybernetic identity within the crime-fighting P.A.C.K. team. The figure wears blue trousers, a red-and-black striped shirt, brown boots, a blue sailor-style cap and the P.A.C.K. belt, with the wolf emblem tattoo on his left hand. This Mattel reference 9940 also features the later Grip Hands configuration, distinguishing it from the earlier Torpedo Fist reference 9289.
