Big Jim Gold Digger / Prospector Outfit, Mattel reference 9911, was released in Europe in 1976 for the Karl May and Western-themed range. This vintage Big Jim costume portrays a frontier prospector, bringing the gold-rush atmosphere of the American West into the collection. Surviving boxed examples show a distinctive checked shirt, light-coloured trousers, boots, a dark hat and mining-related accessories, including a pickaxe. The outfit was also marketed under names such as “Cercatore d’Oro” in Italy, while specialist Big Jim databases identify reference 9911 as the Prospector.
