9414 Cavalry Officer

Mattel’s Big Jim Cavalry Officer outfit, individual reference 9414 within assortment 9945, was released in Europe around 1976–1977 as part of the Western and Karl May range. Inspired by a nineteenth-century United States cavalry uniform, this vintage set places Big Jim in the frontier world associated with Winnetou and Old Shatterhand. The documented contents include a blue military jacket, light-blue trousers, a yellow neckerchief, a wide-brimmed campaign hat, white gloves and black boots. The equipment also comprises a rifle and a cavalry sabre with its scabbard. The Big Jim figure was not included. The distinction between reference 9414 and the ASST 9945 assortment number is important when identifying the original Mattel boxed edition for a Big Jim collection.
