Released in 1976, the Big Jim’s P.A.C.K. LazerVette, Mattel reference 9283, was presented as the “Double Trouble Sports Car,” perfectly matching the secret-agent and action theme of the P.A.C.K. range. At first glance it appears to be a sleek black sports car, but a hidden mechanism transforms it into an attack vehicle: the hood flips over and twin laser cannons rise into firing position. This transformation is the defining feature of the vintage LazerVette and was prominently promoted by Mattel as part of the Double Trouble concept. The car features its distinctive windshield, black bodywork and P.A.C.K. markings. No Big Jim figure is documented as being included with the standard 9283 release.
