9103 Dr. Steel Motocross Biker

Big Jim Dr. Steel Motocross Biker, Mattel reference 9103, was released around 1975–1976 as part of the Big Jim’s P.A.C.K. series. This vintage version presents Dr. Steel, one of the distinctive members of the P.A.C.K., in a motocross role, retaining his bald head, facial scar and famous steel right hand while adding motorcycle equipment, including riding clothes, boots, goggles and a protective helmet. The original Mattel box officially identifies the figure as “Big Jim’s P.A.C.K. – Dr. Steel – Motocross Biker!” Reference 9103 is also documented in an unusual monochrome box, entirely printed in black and white. The reason for this packaging variation has not been confirmed by Mattel, although it appears to be associated with European distribution. This distinctive packaging is a notable variation within the vintage Big Jim Mattel collection.
