8928 Lazervette

Mattel’s Big Jim Lazervette, reference 8928, was released in Europe in 1979 as part of the espionage-themed range. Known in Italy as Lazervette – Il Bolide Armato, this vintage red sports car was associated with secret agent Big Jim 004 and based on the styling of a Chevrolet Corvette C3. Its defining feature is the pair of concealed laser cannons that rise from beneath the front hood, transforming the vehicle from a sleek road car into an armed pursuit machine. The Lazervette also incorporates a friction-drive mechanism and a cockpit designed for a Big Jim figure, which was sold separately. This Mattel collection reference is distinguished from the earlier black P.A.C.K. version and the later blue Corvette variant.
