7625 African Adventure

Released in 1974, Mattel’s Big Jim African Adventure, reference 7625, was a Sears-exclusive boxed set combining two established Big Jim adventure toys: the Jungle Truck and the Jungle Adventure playset. The green safari truck was designed for wildlife expeditions and included a baby rhinoceros, working winch and crane equipment, capture net, fuel cans, tools, movie camera and tranquilizer gun. The Jungle Adventure section added the distinctive 8-inch Real Action gorilla together with its net-launching capture apparatus. This substantial vintage set brought several elements of Mattel’s early safari-themed Big Jim universe together in a single large-format package. Unlike a standard vehicle release, reference 7625 combined transportation, wildlife and animal-capture equipment, making African Adventure one of the more elaborate configurations of the early Big Jim collection.
