Big Jim Jungle Adventure with Real-Action Gorilla, Mattel reference 90-7317, was released in the early 1970s, with documented examples generally dated to 1973. This vintage Big Jim adventure set sends Mattel’s hero into a jungle wildlife mission built around the capture of a powerful gorilla. The set contains an 8-inch Real-Action Gorilla with an arm-swinging action feature, a net launcher, capture net and instructions. Big Jim himself and his outfit were not included, as clearly stated on the original packaging. The large illustrated box, dominated by the attacking gorilla and jungle scene, gives reference 7317 a particularly distinctive presentation within the classic Big Jim collection and reflects Mattel’s early emphasis on action-driven exploration and animal adventures.
