7148 Headquarters Guard

Mattel Big Jim reference 7148 is the Headquarters Guard Adventure Set, released in Europe around 1983, although some secondary listings date surviving examples to 1984. Created during Big Jim’s shift toward spy and paramilitary adventures, the vintage outfit equips the character as a headquarters sentry. It includes a tan short-sleeved uniform shirt with the distinctive red, yellow and blue diagonal stripe, brown trousers with contrasting side stripes, and a matching belt with a circular buckle. Reference 7148 belongs to the same Mattel Adventure Sets group as the Astronaut, Communications Agent and specialized vehicle-driver outfits. Its restrained military styling and multicoloured insignia clearly associate this set with the secret-command aesthetic developed for the early-1980s European Big Jim collection.
