4347 Big Jack

Released in 1972, Big Jack reference 4347 belongs to the original Big Jim range created by Mattel, combining athletic adventure with the line’s characteristic action features. Big Jack is presented in simple sports shorts and uses the muscular Big Jim body equipped with the signature karate-chop action and flexing biceps mechanism. Contemporary descriptions of the early basic figure associate the set with a breakable karate board, a dumbbell and the “Test of Strength” belt, accessories designed to demonstrate the figure’s physical abilities. This vintage Mattel release is also notable for introducing Big Jack as one of Big Jim’s earliest companions and as an African-American hero within the original 1972 collection. Reference 4347 was later issued in different international packaging.
