Mattel Big Jim Explorer, reference 1029, is a late European Commando-series release, with surviving specialist records dating it to 1984–1985. The figure presents Big Jim as a field explorer equipped for action, wearing a red cotton outfit beneath grey body armour. Confirmed contents include a machine gun, dagger, pistol and wrist radio; the figure was supplied with light-blue briefs, and documentation also records the late elastic-leg body construction. European packaging identifies the character as Big Jim Explorer, with the localized names Baroudeur and Esploratore, under Mattel reference 1029. This vintage Big Jim belongs to the final European phase of the original Mattel collection.
